Your vehicle will need to be left with us on the day of your MOT. We'll let you know when it's ready — usually the same day. Please plan to arrange transport home when you drop off.

```When does my car need an MOT?
Cars need an MOT every year once they're three years old. Your MOT expiry date is shown on your current MOT certificate and on the GOV.UK MOT checker. It's illegal to drive on a public road with an expired MOT.
How much does an MOT cost at TGPP Autocare?
We charge £54.85 for a standard car MOT — the government-set maximum price. We never charge above this. If you book your MOT alongside a service, we offer a reduced combined price. Call us to find out more.
Can I wait while my MOT is done?
We don't offer while-you-wait MOTs. Your vehicle needs to be left with us. This lets us work without time pressure and means if anything needs attention, we can often deal with it the same day. We'll call you when it's ready.
How early can I book my MOT?
You can book your MOT up to one calendar month minus one day before it expires and keep the same renewal date. For example, if your MOT expires on 20 October, you can book from 21 September and your new expiry will still be 20 October next year.
How long does an MOT take?
The test itself takes around 45–60 minutes. However, as we operate a drop-off service, we ask you to leave your vehicle with us for the day. If repairs are needed afterwards, we'll quote and agree these with you before starting.
What happens if my car fails its MOT?
We'll explain exactly what failed and give you a clear quote for the repair. Nothing is touched without your agreement. If your current MOT is still valid, you can drive away and arrange the repair elsewhere if you prefer — though we'll be happy to help. We also offer 0% finance through PayAssist if needed.
Can I drive to the MOT without a valid MOT?
Yes — you can drive to a pre-booked MOT test even if your current MOT has just expired. However, you cannot drive for any other reason without a valid MOT. Your insurance may also be invalid without one.
What does an MOT test check?
The test covers around 70 components including brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, lights, wipers, horn, seatbelts, fuel and exhaust systems, vehicle structure, and emissions. It checks your car meets legal road safety and environmental standards.
